Computer-based testing for the Cambridge Exams 2010 |
|
|
The latest developments in Language Assessment are currently active in Athens, Greece. Cambridge ESOL has kicked off the New Year with a fresh concept that encourages students to test through its new computer-based (CB) sessions. Cambridge has successfully implemented CB exams this past November and December for the FCE , KET and PET exams in Athens.
Computer based testing offers test takers a surplus of benefits besides
the convenience of registering as little as two weeks prior to the test
date. A few examples include the ease of completing the exam on a PC
rather than the tedious pen and paper task, results are produced just
three weeks after the test and additional test dates are available to
meet the needs of the candidates. In addition to this, the test becomes
an individual experience for each examinee.
Every candidate has access to an online timer, private headphones to ensure excellent sound quality, as well as, the ability to edit text on the screen during the exam. This CB format is simply a new method in test taking and it will not substitute the content of the pen and paper test. At this time there are a few locations operating in Athens with a total of 200 global CB testing sites.
Siountri School believes in keeping up-to-date with educational practices and is at present preparing students for this modern and reliable testing format. We are familiarizing our students with CB tests through the use of our well-equipped computer lab. Our authentic testing conditions expose our student body to the skills and knowledge needed in order to be successful with this new test format.
