Xiao Qing was born and raised in Beijing and is a native Chinese Mandarin speaker. After graduating from China Society University, Department of English Language, she began teaching the Chinese language to foreign speakers. In 1992, she graduated from the University of Westminster in London, majoring in advanced writing skills. Subsequently, she moved to Greece to continue her studies at the University of Athens in Modern Greek.
With regard to language teaching, she employs a special technique that combines both language skills and the appreciation of the Chinese culture, in order to motivate students to become more interested in the Chinese heritage, customs, history and modern China itself. In 2005 she wrote the first travel guide of Greece, available in the Chinese language , introducing the top 10 sights in Greece. This travel guide was well-received by Chinese visitors to Greece.
Besides teaching her native language in Greece, Xiao Qing has also worked as an interpreter for numerous trade companies and organizations, as well as the Chinese government official delegations when visiting Greece. Her role during the transitioning of the Olympic Flame was to support the creation of sister cities of Ancient Olympia and Haidian and assist the Press Conference held by Mr. Sgouros in the Athens Prefecture. Today, although she continues working in the field of education she finds herself interviewing for both the China Central and Greek Television.
